Alan and Susan have owned and managed Lovejoy Cottage since 2011. We love sharing our cottage with guests and are always available to answer questions or help plan your vacation. We do have day jobs, so it may be a few hours before you hear from us, but we guarantee you will never get a canned response from someone not knowledgeable of the property.
With 90 feet of direct waterfront access to Lovejoy Pond, a calm lake that stretches 4.5 miles with little motorized boat activity, Lovejoy Cottage is heaven for the nature enthusiast, bird watcher, or fisherman. Fish for bass, pike, or trout, or view the abundant wildlife, including several resident bald eagle families, cormorants, loons, herons, beavers, wild turkeys, woodchucks, and more.
Ideal for Day Trips
Lovejoy Cottage is ideally situated for day trips to the coast, Acadia National Park, Baxter State Park, or any number of local summer festivals. Just 15 minutes from historic Waterville with its theaters and restaurants, and 45 minutes from the scenic coastal towns of Belfast, Rockport, Camden and Rockland. All renowned for excellent restaurants, great antiquing and shopping, and thriving arts scene as well as spectacular coastal scenery.
Alan and Susan have owned and managed Lovejoy Cottage since 2011. We simply fell in love with the undeveloped nature of this area. It’s a wonderful respite from our busy, stress-filled lives and provides an opportunity to commune with nature.
Alan used to lead canoe trips through the Allagash Waterway, and we wanted that sense of serenity while still being close to transportation hubs and amenities. We had been looking at various areas in Maine for years, and just knew this was our place when we saw it. It’s private and peaceful, and the setting, views, and location are simply spectacular. Our guests call it a “little piece of heaven” — and we certainly agree!
When not working, we like to spend our time hiking, snowshoeing, traveling, fishing, and trying out new restaurants. Most of our time at the cottage has been spent lovingly renovating it with modern conveniences while still retaining its original charm and character. It’s truly been a labor of love for us and one we hope you, your family, and your loved ones will enjoy as well.
