Summer Harbor Arts and Books Fair

54th Annual Yarmouth Clam Festival

This festival is one of Maine’s summer favorites. It includes a parade on Friday night, fireworks on Saturday night, live music from three stages, food, arts and crafts shows, road races and more. The carnival on the midway opens Wednesday evening and runs through Sunday. More than 150 farms throughout the State of Maine join in this one day celebration of agriculture and farming. Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village is among the oldest farms in Maine still operated under the same management since 1783. See Scottish highland cattle, a flock of more than 40 sheep, bees, barn cats, apple orchards, herb and vegetable gardens. Featured activities of the day include guided tours of the 1830 barns by Brother Arnold Hadd, tractor-drawn wagon rides, honey bee display and hives, tours of the Shakers’ historic herb gardens, and traditional craft demonstrations: woodcarving, blacksmithing, yarn spinning, chair seat weaving, “Lamb to Loom” demonstration, rug hooking, dovetail demonstration by Chris Becksvoort, tin-type photography demonstration. Maine Lobster Festival

Five days of fun dedicated to celebrating Maine’s famous crustacean – the lobster! The festival opens with King Neptune and his sea hags coming from the sea with a Coast Guard escort, of course!! The eating tent serves freshly caught single, double and triple lobster dinners from noon to closing, cooked on site in the world’s largest lobster cooker. There are also other seafood and festival foods available; a crafts tent; marine tent; carnival games and rides; entertainment; lobster crate races; lobster cook offs and much more including a fabulous community parade on Saturday morning. Sunday is community day with free admission. Since 1947, the Maine Lobster Festival has given more than $500,000 to Midcoast Maine’s communities. As a non-profit organization, the Maine Lobster Festival donates all proceeds back to the Midcoast Maine communities each year. See website for event schedules.
Admission Fees: On opening day, general admission tickets are $1 for adults and free for kids 6-12. After that, adults pay $8 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sunday is “Family Fun Day” and admission is free for all ages. Website

17th Annual Maine Boat and Home Show

It’s the pages of Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors magazine brought to life and the largest in-water boat show north of Newport, with more than 60 boats in the water and 100+ exhibitors in tents and on the grounds. Belfast Harbor Fest and Classic Boat Show

Help the Belfast waterfront come alive with a unique display of talent and good old-fashioned competition. Right before your eyes, teams of two will be handcrafting a 12-foot wooden skiff. As the sawdust starts to settle, the teams will sprint their boats out onto the salty sea and then row to the finish line (or in one case last year, sinking) for all to see. This is in addition to a Friday Night Launch Party, a 5K road race along the waterfront, an open house at French & Webb, maritime exhibits, demonstrations and speakers, a blueberry pancake breakfast, children’s nautical activities, local vendors, a judged Classic Small Boat Show, live music and, of course, delicious food!
